Christmas

Christmas is coming with the smell of cookies, pine tree twigs and the sound of jingling bells. Naturally, the first signs of the holiday are showing up – the shop windows cram-full of Christmas decorations, signboards saying (“Holiday discount. Delight your friends or relatives with a package of anti-arthritis tablets and you get another one as a present.”), x-rated cover versions of Christmas songs and greeting cards with messages like: “Christmas doesn’t come from stores but a lot of other things do (in other words: buy me a luxurious, expensive present even if it’s meaningless.)

For the average person, Christmas has turned into yet another occasion to get something expensive which he would otherwise never dream of and spends about three days sitting at the table till the point of not being able to get up.

We get so overstuffed with useless gifts that we tend to think about the true meaning of Christmas less and less. Christmas is a chance for us to realize that our happiness depends on the simple but precious things in life such as sharing our dreams or giving our love to someone. Then we can feel much better, more open to the world, friendlier and warm-hearted. Christmas is a chance for us to spend time with our loved ones and to show how much we appreciate them, an opportunity to forget the everyday matters and meet someone’s gaze through the candle-flame. Christmas is our chance to remember that Jesus Christ was born to give us faith, hope and love. Miracles happen оn Christmas Eve, don’t forget that.

Happy Holidays!
